Most of the bonsai trees are from Indonesia, a leading country in developing dramatic tropical bonsai. Our first exposure to Indonesian bonsai was Robert Steven’s wonderful Vision of My Soul. As it turns out, Robert is not the only brilliant and innovative bonsai artist in that part of the world, and though we’ll always have a soft spot for Robert and his daring bonsai, now we’ll have to make some room in our hearts for Budi Sulistyo and his friends (who, by the way, include Robert).
Though he bills this wonderful bonsai book as a bonsai gallery, Budi has enhanced it with some simple and straightforward writing and beautiful photos on display and technique. Worthy additions to a very worthy book. If you are looking for excellent value in a unique treasure, look no further.
